In 1967, Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz began the project that would become his passion and magnum opus - his commentary and translation of the Babylonian Talmud. In 1983 he founded the Israel Institute for Talmudic Publications in order to publish his flagship project: the monumental 45 volume Steinsaltz Edition of the Babylonian Talmud, punctuated and translated from the original Aramaic into modern Hebrew. Following the completion of his commentary on the Babylonian Talmud, Rabbi Steinsaltz continues to dedicate his life to making sacred Jewish texts accessible to students of all ages and Jewish backgrounds. According to Rabbi Steinsaltz, “Every ending is a new beginning”.
